Agencies Funded For 2016

Oelwein Area United Way is pleased to fund the following agencies for the upcoming campaign.

Alternative Living Corporation

The community based residential facilities and Supported Community Living services provide services to adults with mental retardation, helping them reach the highest level of independence possible.

Boy Scouts - Winnebago Council

Provides an effective program designed to build desirable qualities of character, citizenship, personal fitness and development of good American citizens.


Provides 17-week course of instruction presented to 6th grade students on the prevention of misuse and abuse of alcohol and illegal drugs.

Girl Scouts - GSEIWI

Largest organization exclusively devoted to girls and women. The mission of Girl Scouting is to inspire girls with highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism & service to become resourceful citizens.

Helping Services of NE Iowa

(Domestic & Sexual Abuse Resource Center) Provides services, which include transportation, financial assistance, safe shelter and support groups to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.

Little Husky Childcare & Preschool

Provides a program based on developmentally appropriate practice for children ages 2 weeks to 12 years. It is designed to meet both the individual and group needs of the children entrusted in our care.

Meals on Wheels

Provides well-balanced, hot meals that are delivered to homebound residents.

NE Iowa Community Action

Provides family services, 3 early childhood ed classrooms, weatherization, energy assistance, emergency utility programs, WIC, nutrition program, cooling assistance, adult basic ed, housing and crisis intervention.

Oelwein Community Plaza

Provides continuation of senior dining center meal site and viability of Oelwein Community Plaza as a public use facility.

Parent Share & Support

Strives to adept meet the changing needs of families and the community through support, education and referral services to empower and strengthen the family unit.

Riverview Center

Free confidential service for survivors of sexual assault; includes 24-hour hotline; legal, medical, & general advocacy; one-on-one therapy, counseling & support groups; professional training & violence prevention initiatives.

Two x Two Kindhearted Kids

The program includes Puppet Pals, HUG (Help us Grow) and the Old Creamery Theatre drug presentation Program. All programs include instructions on the importance of a substance abuse free environment at the elementary level.

Volunteers for Youth/Kids of Promise

Children are matched with role models (caring adults and high school students) who instill a positive effect on their lives and behavior.
